Community Engagement Certificate Program

Join a growing community of engagement practitioners and strengthen your ability to contribute to meaningful change at OSU and beyond.

The Community Engagement Certificate Program at Oregon State University is a professional development opportunity designed for employees and graduate students. Participants are committed to building meaningful, reciprocal and mutually beneficial partnerships with communities through teaching, research, engagement and service.

As a participant you will:

  1. Explore the fundamental principles and practices of community engagement in our teaching, learning, research and extension and for our connected communities.
  2. Learn how community engagement is integral to addressing community needs, designing impactful initiatives and evaluating and assessing the effectiveness of community engagement at OSU. This is taught through a blend of theoretical frameworks and practical examples.
  3. Learn about the connection of community engagement to OSU's strategic plan, Prosperity Widely Shared, and our mission and vision as Oregon's land-grant university.

The certificate consists of a series of self-directed, asynchronous modules with opportunities to engage with existing theory and practice, and reflect on community engagement and why and how it happens at Oregon State University.
