Sara Jameson
With online education, there is a perceived divide between students and their course content, their instructors, and their classmates. Faculty must work tirelessly to bridge that gap…and few do it as well as Sara Jameson.
Sara is the assistant director of writing, and a senior instructor in the School of Writing, Literature, and Film. You’ll find Sara at the forefront of online learning at Oregon State. Her willingness to learn and use new teaching methods in developing and delivering effective online and hybrid courses has paid off for her students. For example, Sara’s use of audio in her online courses brings their learning to life, virtually wiping away the distance between Jameson and her students.
Shannon Riggs, the Ecampus director of course development and training, said this: “In the nearly four years I’ve worked with Sara, I have found her to be consistently forward thinking, collaborative, innovative and, above all, student-centered. Sara knows her students well and cares about their success deeply. She brings her own ideas and is open to others. She works tirelessly, trying new approaches and fine-tuning already excellent courses.”
But Sara isn’t just an outstanding online, she is—right here in the non-virtual world-- a warm, encouraging, and effective mentor to other faculty members.
For her dedication to advancing online education, we are delighted to recognize Sara Jameson as the recipient of the Innovation Online Credit-based Teaching award.
